  • Virtually abandoned after the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Baghdad Zoo is now home again to 1,050 animals, and zoo officials are hoping to expand the park. Said the director general of parks and gardens, "I expect the number of visitors to the park by the end of the year will number 8 million, from all Iraqi cities." [Yahoo!]
