International Photo Contest: Today's Pic

| Comments (7)
Only a few weeks remain in National Geographic magazine's International Photo Contest, so we asked our friends across the courtyard to share some of the favorite images that they've received so far. One of the standouts was this surly lemur, taken by Sandrine Vuillermoz in Madagascar. After attempting several pictures, Vuillermoz says the lemur began posing like a model, then turned and stuck out his tongue. "He tried to send me the message, it's ok, now you can go, you've had your scoop!" Vuillermoz writes in his caption.

Lemur.JPGFor more images, visit the weekly galleries on National Geographic Magazine's site. The International Photo Contest ends October 31st, so submit your favorite images in the People, Places, and Nature categories now.

OPENING OF THE 20TH EDITION OF THE COMPETITION 01/09/2009

Two decades after its first edition, the María Luisa Memorial renews its traditional appointment with all mountain and nature photographers. This edition presents various significant novelties, amongst which are: digital mediums will be the only support format admitted, irrespective of the technique employed to capture the original image; there will be to clearly differentiated subjects, mountains and nature. There are new thematic prizes and a new section for young photographers under 20 years old, and the already familiar sections devoted to mountaineering and climbing will continue,

Making use of the opportunities offered by new technologies, this website will punctually inform contestants of all that happens during the running of the competition. All that is needed to participate will be available on this site.

True to its original principles of independence and transparency, and with no economic or commercial interest, this competition continues to make the promotion and dissemination of the artistic work of the photographers who participate year after year its only goal, sharing it with the rest of the contestants and all those who are attracted by mountains and natural surroundings and the values that these transmit.

We hope that the initiative will once again arouse your interest and enjoyment, and that we can count on your participation.

Excellent contest and a great platform to show someone's creativity. I have some snaps of my pet dog and horse as I love them the most. Can I submit my photo to this pictures contest and how?
