- As we blogged about previously this week, a photo of a squirrel barging into a vacation portrait--originally from National Geographic's Your Shot site--has spread like wildfire across blogs, news sites, and even British tv shows. It has triggered many responses over at BuzzFeed, with crafty photoshoppers inserting the cheeky photo crasher into hilarious situations, such as the one above. If you want to see the original photo published in a future issue of National Geographic magazine, go to the Voting Machine and choose "August Week 1" and you can vote for it there (it's image #9 in the gallery).
- Parisian ichthyologists rejoice! After a 15-year absence, the Atlantic salmon is making a remarkable come back to the Seine River waters, said to be a result of a major pollution clean-up project started in 1995. Anglers have netted sizeable specimens of the endangered species in recent months, indicating a healthier environment and population. Some 32 other fish species have followed, with sea trout, shad, and lamprey eels also being spotted in Paris' famed river. [via BBC]
- AirTran has become the first airline in the U.S. to offer Wi-Fi on every flight, according to Travel Weekly. They charge $5.95 for flights under three hours and $9.95 for flights three hour or longer. While the debate continues among carriers over how much they should charge for the service, they are all hoping it will be a new revenue stream that their customers will appreciate--unlike baggage fees. Weaknesses of in-flight Wi-Fi include limited access to power ports and the inability to stream videos or use VoIP because of bandwith concerns.
