  • NASA and the Japanese trade ministry have compiled the most complete terrain map of the Earth's surface. The Global Digital Elevation Map has 1.3 million images, covers 99% of the Earth's surface and will be free to download.

  • RV parks are going green. The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds launched a green-parks initiative two years ago called "Plan It Green," and parks, like Sandy Pines in Michigan, are installing solar panels to heat their pools and geothermal heating and cooling systems in their supply shops.

  • After 60 years and a 200-million-euro renovation, Berlin's Nues Museum has finally announced that it will re-open in October. The museum, which is one of five that makes up the World Heritage site Museum Island, was built between 1843 and 1855 and houses the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection.
