  • Park in the sky? In June the Big Apple is set to get a new patch of green space. The former High Line railway is being renovated to become a public park.

  • In an effort to beat the $1 bus fares on the East Coast, Amtrak is offering 25% off tickets during the summer. Not bad if you have to take the train. But still more expensive than BoltBus and MegaBus fares.

  • In Basel, Switzerland, art exhibit "Vincent van Gogh Between Earth and Heaven" showcases van Gogh's landscapes--the artist's lesser-known, yet more frequent motif.

  • National Trails Day is Saturday, June 6, and Shenandoah National Park wants to get visitors hiking. The park, located about an hour-and-a-half outside of Washington, D.C., is offering a "Beyond the Trails" class (including presentations, hikes, and demonstrations) at the Byrd Visitors Center throughout the day.
