This past Saturday marked the launch of Foto Week/DC, the first annual gathering for members of the photography industry in the nation's capital.In addition to exhibitions at venues and galleries around Washington, D.C., the week-long celebration (November 15-22) includes workshops for creative and commercial photographers, portfolio reviews, consultations, an exhibition of D.C.'s most talented photographers, lectures, book signings, and an awards banquet to recognize extraordinary achievement in the industry.
FotoWeek/DC hopes to demonstrate the importance of photography in everyday life and generate discussions about the practice and place of photography, both in the world and within D.C.
