Very informative article. I wanted to add some extra discount information about visiting NYC during the holidays. I work for New York City Transit, and we're offering two MetroCard Deals with our partners at Big Apple Circus and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. You can get $10 off tickets to select performances to the Christmas Spectacular by showing your MetroCard at the box office or by using code "NYCT" when ordering tickets online or by phone. For the Big Apple Circus at Lincoln Center, you can get $10 off tickets to select performances and seating locations by showing your MetroCard at the Big Top box office, or by using code "TRIP" when ordering tickets online or by phone. If you want more information and a calendar of valid performances, you can visit both of their websites, or the MTA website. For first-time visitors to New York City, MetroCard is the fare card used to ride our subways and buses throughout all 5 boroughs of New York. Enjoy the shows!
Thanks for the MetroCard tip!
I will be going to NYC on 12/13. My daughters and I plan to do very touristy things, but I would also love to catch a holiday concert. I'm thinking of small choral groups or instrumental ensembles in smaller venues (not Carnegie Hall-style). Are there any recommendations on where I can find this information?
I write for findingDulcinea, and was involved in putting together our New York City Survival Guide. It is full of information for visitors. To find out about holiday concerts, check the "New York Entertainment and Arts" section, the "Music" section, and the "Theater, Dance, Comedy and Spoken Word in New York" section. This guide is also packed with advice on using public transportation and catching cabs, city parks, film and family fun in New York. Good Luck!
Definitely, New York is at its best during Christmas season and New Year. This past Winter there were some sweet deals on New York City Discount Hotels, and the Broadway Shows were fantastic.
The hotel I stayed in let me go and watch Wicked almost for free on one of the two nights I was in New York! It was great! My wife and I truly enjoyed the service of the hotel, and our traveling agency, Last Minute Travel, as well. Hope you all get to see Wicked as well.
Nice one. . I really enjoyed read this one. .
