One hundred free Genographic Kits were distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to the public. Volunteers from the University of Adelaide, IBM, and the Royal Institution of Australia explained the project and guided participants through the process. Some local Adelaide celebrities who also participated include members of Adelaide's United Football Club and celebrity chef Poh Ling Yeow.
