More than 50 members from the international Genographic consortium arrived in Sydney, Australia this week for the project's scientific conference.  Coming from over a dozen different countries, we are all are excited to catch up with colleagues to present our most recent findings and discuss future collaborations.  We kicked off the conference with presentations from each center that were focused on key scientific questions for focus in the coming year.  Lots of discussion...!

In advance of the official conference, Genographic post doctorate students flew in just in time for fireworks over the Sydney Harbour in celebration of the Australia's National Holiday.  They  were gathering for an intense workshop with representatives from National Geographic, IBM, Arizona Research Labs and Applied Biosystems.   They report a productive week, installing new IBM software, discussing quality assurance and protocol and reviewing the standardization practice established at the previous post doc workshop at Arizona Research Labs in Tucson, Arizona last year.

With a full science agenda at this year's conference, we'll have much to report.
