Please visit the Genographic Legacy Fund's newly-expanded website for additional information about the Genographic Legacy Fund and how to apply for a grant.
The Genographic Legacy Fund (GLF) is accepting applications through December 15, 2008 for consideration during our upcoming review cycle.
Funded by net proceeds from the sale of the Genographic Project Public Participation Kits, the GLF awards grants on a semi-annual basis for community-driven projects seeking to directly preserve or revitalize indigenous or traditional culture.
- Conserving intangible culture (stories, songs, traditional methods, museums, etc.)
- Conserving material culture (sites, monuments, tools, etc.)
- Indigenous language education and revitalization projects
- Conservation through educating outsiders on the culture and needs of the society
If your community is committed to preserving or revitalizing its unique heritage your cultural project may be eligible to receive a grant through the GLF. Community projects may also be submitted by individuals or organizations that have an established relationship with an indigenous or traditional community and can provide logistical support or other resources.
.
Requests may be submitted at any time. However, only applications received by the December 15 deadline are eligible for consideration during the December through April review cycle. Applications may also be submitted in advance of the June 15, 2009 deadline.
Applications or questions may be sent via email to GenographicLegacy@ngs.org.
