Speeding up the "copy disk" process

| | Comments (0)
Because of the large number of high-resolution images included in The Complete National Geographic, copying them to your hard drive (or an external hard drive) has been reported as taking anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours per disk.  To decrease the length of time, be sure to turn off the autoplay feature for your DVD drive before starting the copy process.  To turn off the autoplay feature,

  • Open your computer's Control Panel
  • Choose "Hardware and Sound"
  • Click the "Autoplay" option
  • Uncheck the "Use Autoplay for all media and devices"
  • Click Save
This procedure has been reported to reduce copying time by 20-30 minutes.  Once you've finished copying your disks, you can revert to your original settings by using the above procedure to place a check in the "Use Autoplay on all media and devices" box.
