The first disc contains software required to install The Complete National Geographic. The software allows you to browse, search, and play the trivia game. Whenever you click on an issue cover or article abstract, a DVD is necessary to read the content. The content is split chronologically between six DVDs. Starting in November, National Geographic will enable a "full install" feature in The Complete National Geographic, enabling the user to copy all the DVDs to their hard drive.
When I got the CNG, it seemed to work pretty well. But today when I used it, it only opened to one short article on disc 1. All the other articles on tried to get at, on discs 4, 6, 3, and then even 1 would not open. The computer would sound like it was getting the article, and the page would go blank, then silence and no article. the computer acknowledges that the disc is there. So what am i doing wrong?
To enhance readability of pages, you can enlarge them using either of these approaches:
1) Double-click the page you're viewing;
2) Click the "Magnify Page" function on your menu bar, and then choose the degree of magnification you want. You can also choose the loupe feature under "Magnify Page" to enlarge specific portions of the page.
You'll notice that, in enlarged mode, you can't see the entire page on your screen. To see other parts of the page, just hold down your mouse button and drag the page around on your screen.
It is February 2010 and I just bought this software. It still does not let me do a full install on the harddrive. Very disappointing.
how do i enlarge the page without part of the page being shifted right so that not all text is visible
How to you turn the pages so you can read them when they turned to the side? How soo will there be a update for this issue?

the fixes online and then hired a computer tech for two hours only to arive at the same results. Is there a replacement
available that works.
J., we wrote to you via email, but wanted to make sure you received it. We have posted the instructions for the workaround to copying your DVDs to your hard drive in our FAQ, and here in the blog itself. Please take a look and let us know if we can help you with this. As for getting a refund, you'll have to work with the vendor from whom you purchased the product. We hope the workarounds get you up and running though! Keep us posted.
As a History teacher I was eager to get this program, but sadly I am very disappointed. The software is extremely slow and the inability to install the disks onto a hard drive has been been solved by 11/1/09 as stated by prior CNG posts. As a teacher I rely on Nat. Geo. to produce quality work and the DVD-Rom is not unless you can tell me how to permanently install the disks on my hardrive? If not, is it possible to get a refund?
