About This Blog
Explore. Explain.
Night and day, National Geographic explorers traverse the Earth, gathering the stories, images, and insights that inspire people to care about the planet. The halls of our headquarters buzz with (yes!) caffeine, but also with quirky, clever, creative characters and fascinating finds. Blog Wild exists to share the stream, raw from the field and inside our Washington, D.C., base camp. Join us!
From disappearing languages to tree kangaroos, megafishes to melting glaciers, redwoods to blue whales, world music to virtual worlds, great apes to big cats, our people are there. Nature and wildlife, the environment, cultures, education, media, science, and a host of "ologies"—archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, geology, climatology, technology... we love 'em all!
The Geographic's research, conservation, and exploration grants and our Explorers Program support a global network of pioneers. From a fleet of ships, we survey the ocean. Our live events and exhibitions celebrate everything from the Titanic to King Tut to the Terra Cotta Warriors. We're working in schools to create a generation of kids and teens who do know much about geography, and who'll grow up determined--we're determined--to stem the tide of species extinction, climate change, and human conflict.
Above the mountains, below the seas, at both poles and everywhere in between, into the distant past and the impending future, our mission embraces the world and all that's in it. Can we count you in?
