Please visit the Genographic Legacy Fund's newly-expanded website for additional information about the Genographic Legacy Fund and how to apply for a grant.

The Genographic Legacy Fund (GLF) is accepting applications through December 15, 2008 for consideration during our upcoming review cycle.

Funded by net proceeds from the sale of the Genographic Project Public Participation Kits, the GLF awards grants on a semi-annual basis for community-driven projects seeking to directly preserve or revitalize indigenous or traditional culture.

Indigenous to the vast mountains of Tajikistan, the Yagnobi people have experienced a tremendous language loss after decades of forced and necessary migration. With funding from the Genographic Legacy Fund, a team of Yagnobi linguists from the Rudaki Institute of Language and Literature initiated the Yagnobi language revitalization project "Exploring and Conserving the Disappearing Yagnobi Language in Tajikistan."  Project manager Dr. Bahriddin Aliev shares some of the successes of the project:
