Heather.jpgSince its premiere at Sundance in 2008, Frozen River has been on a fabulous run of success, earning the festival's grand jury prize for Best U.S. Drama and subsequently landing a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Classics. One year later, the film stands on the plateau of the ultimate industry honor, receiving two Academy Award® nominations for Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress (Melissa Leo) in a leading role. Produced by All Roads seed grantee Heather Rae (Trudell 2005), this honor is yet another achievement in what has been a prolific career for the filmmaker.

All Roads will present a special screening of Frozen River at National Geographic in Washington D.C. on March 24.

Dsc_7257Leading up to the biggest night in cinema, the All Roads Film Project served as one of the host venues for films nominated in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. For five consecutive nights, National Geographic's Grosvenor Auditorium became a platform for this distinguished collection of international films.
Dsc_7390 The event proved to be a smashing success both critically, with the films, as well as at the box office, with each night a sold out affair. Each night was indeed an event as the evening would open with a gala reception attended by members of the Academy, special guests from the respective embassies, and the curious public.
Dsc_7268 Each night, the scene was as diverse as the five nominated films, BEAUFORT (Israel), THE COUNTERFEITERS (Austria), KATYN (Poland), MONGOL (Mongolia), 12 (Russia).
